How many dragon lairs are in skyrim

There are nine distinct kinds of dragons in Skyrim that can be distinguished by colors and elements:. You can randomly face dragons in the open world, but if you wish a guaranteed encounter with a dragon, then you must visit one of the ten main dragon lairs, where these creatures protect ancient word walls see the map above for exact spots :. There are two more dragon lairs that are available in other locations besides the kingdom of Skyrim:.

This dragon is the main antagonist of the game. You will encounter him several times throughout the main storyline at the following locations:. Once you do eventually reach it however, you can expect to find a Word Wall with one word of the Animal Allegiance Shout there.

Autumnwatch Tower isn't too hard to find, as you can reach this Dragon Shrine by travelling south from the start of the stairs leading to the Throat of the World, or you can travel west of Riften. Bonestrewn Crest can be found by travelling to the wide open area directly to the south of Windhelm, the Stormcloak Stronghold. When you interact with the Word Wall located here, you'll be given one world of the Frost Breath Shout.

Dragontooth Crater can be found in Skyrim by travelling either west of Morthal, or to the northeast of Markarth. You'll be given one word of the Elemental Fury Shout when you interact with the Word Wall located here.

Eldersblood Peak is a Dragon Shrine located near the centre of Skyrim, and you can find it by travelling slightly southwest of Morthal. The slightly ominously-named Lost Tongue Overlook Dragon Shrine can be found directly south of Riften, along the mountains that border Cyrodiil. Sometimes you might stumble upon them by accident, but more often than not they tend to go overlooked due to their difficult to access locations. Not to mention some of them are simply much more worth the trek than others.

Head east from Morthal, all the way up into the snowy mountains to discover this isolated little altar. Skyborn Altar isn't as great as one would imagine, and it's definitely not ideal when it comes to fighting a dragon due to the lack of space.

A few different quests might send the player here, but there's nothing extremely noteworthy other than the world wall and the dragon itself. The only notable thing to loot is a corpse by the wall. Another disappointing dragon lair is without a doubt the Ancient Ascent. Despite looking immensely cool, it just doesn't deliver in terms of loot and combat experience.

The place is a bit cramped for fighting a dragon. To get here, head southwest from Helgen, or east from Falkreath and up the mountains. What makes it a slightly better place than the previous lair is the fact that it at least has a nice little chest for the player.

The word wall itself doesn't teach a particularly useful shout, however, since Animal Allegiance is used rarely if ever. From Riften , head towards the southern mountains to find this ominous entrance.

Beware of a soul gem trap at the entrance before wandering closer, as well as the necromancer and various skeletons that also guard the altar. Not to worry though, because the Dismay shout of the wall makes this a worthy visit, as does the large chest of loot located next to it.

The Reach isn't the easiest place to survive in due to the abundance of Forsworn. The same goes for this deadly lair known as Dragontooth Crater, which not only has a dragon as an enemy but Forsworn and a hagraven as well. Saering's Watch is marked as cleared on my map, so i doubt the dragon's had time to respawn.

How long does that take anyway? Not sure about the respawn time, but there's a dragon on an island to the east of Solsteim.

One of the other islands has a Reikling camp on it. Otherwise, you could just head back to Skyrim and visit one of the dragon lairs there. Gains 89 EXP! Learns Magma Drill! Sweet, I'll head over right after i give "2 hands of red grass" to the reikling dude.

Stupid thing is I'd have the soul if it weren't for Miraak More topics from this board
